I totally adore these mittens. They are made by Shan Shan from Osaka. You can let them be custom made :) I especially like the pattern on the blue mittens, I wish I could embroider like that! Maybe I have to make some spare time to learn.

The last few weekend I was sewing three pillowcases. My mom had these beautiful old piece of textile layer around. I you look closely you can see they're also a bit Christmas themed. I love the reindeers.

Eskimo Playbook

I illustrated and designed this eskimo play-book. In a playful way it tells you about how eskimos live.
What do they eat? What clothes do they wear and what are they made of? How do they hunt? What kind of houses to they have? You can all find out in this book. The book includes language-games, a colouring picture, how to make your own eskimo mask, how to make stencils, dress-up an eskimo and more. (ooh and it's for 6+)

Pom-Pom garland

I made this pom-pom garland to liven up my student room a bit. I think it turned out pretty nice and it's so relaxing to do!

Here's a video with a funny lady explaining how to make a pom-pom yourself. To make a garland out of it, all you have to do is tie the pom-pom's together.
Normally I take two pieces of cardboard and cut them into circles, just like the 'pom-pom maker'.

New thrift store finds

I'm so excited about this book! I've been searching a long time for some kind of mushroom book like this. I realy like the illustrations, they're so outdated!
The book has been printed in 1929 and has like 'the beautiful mushrooms', 'how mushrooms grow', 'useful mushrooms' and 'dangerous mushrooms'.

I also found this fine looking box and a simple though cute backpack.
I think the pattern on the box is very pretty and maybe I will decorate the backpack with some embroidery. I'm so happy with my finds :)

Aren't these creatures great?? They look kind of scary and romantic at the same time.
I would love to have one of them in my living room, he could keep me company and give me warmth. (It has been so cold last couple of days!)

The man who crochets and builds these creatures people is Noel Middleton.
He lives in Toronto and calls himself a 'multi-disciplinary artist'.
"who works in sculpture, installation, photography and video. Using natural, found and collected materials, Middleton creates pieces that bridge experiences of reclusion and fantasy with themes of 'relative deprivation'".

The book 'Naive' and Nate Duval

I while ago I had this book as a gift for my birthday. "Naive" illustrates a new develpment in graphic design; young graphic designers are rediscovering the stylic elements reminiscent of classic graphic design such as silkscreen printing, classical typography, hand lettering, woodcutting and folk art and integrating them into their work.
As I was thumbing trough this book, I ran up a lively illustration by Nate Duval.

She also forms a design studio together with Camilla Engman called Studio Violet.

'Fine Little Day is a multidisciplinary art and design platform and brand.' Elisabeth says. 'It is not faithful to any single line and does not have the ambition to be cohesive or even well thought through.
Fine Little Day specializes in playful creating based on pleasure and joy.'
I think this is a beautiful and inspiring way to create things.

I made a poster for a project called Straatmuseum. It's a project from Annemarie Amsing. A 100 children are making paintings on wood and will exhibit these on the 4th of July in the streets around their schools. When you find a paiting you can move it to somewhere else or take it home!

Now this is an artist I really admire a lot. Ghostpatrol lives in Melbourne, Australia. He started as a stencil artist, now he exhibits his work worldwide. His work consists of soft sculptures, ink drawings, commissioned murals and street-art. He creates worlds that often references childhood nostalgia.

Tas-ka is a little Dutch company by Hester Worst and Jantien Baas. After graduated in textile design at the Royal Academy of Art in Den Haag, they set up 'Tas-ka'.
The new collection has the theme House. The designs are screenprinted on fabric in four colours. Herste and Jantien also make breadboards, playhouses and felt broaches.
I like the idea of picking one theme and make all these different products out of it.
